FIND… all the good things in life.
Staying in Warkworth Lodge allows you to be in the centre of the Matakana Coast Wine Country region, which entails a short drive to stunning selection of beaches, several wineries, 5 golf courses, island cruises, fishing charters, horse riding, cycle trail, farmers markets, Morris & James daily pottery tour, snorkelling in NZ oldest marine reserve, heli fishing, walks, sheep farming shows, many artisan food outlets to name a few of our favourite local experiences.
A scenic 45 minute drive north of Auckland city centre, you arrive in to Matakana Coast Wine Country. The region spans from Puhoi in the south to Pakiri in the north, it has an abundant & diverse range of activities to enjoy. They are in close proximity to each other, so you have less time in the car and more time having fun!
With over 30 beaches along this stunning coast line, from family safe flat water at Snells Beach to roaring surf at Tawharanui or Pakiri, you may think of this as a summer destination. However it is also a most delightful winter holiday destination. With the winterless north weather, crackling fires in cozy pubs and wineries, and artisan food freshly plucked from the local market to enjoy. It’s hard to beat. We suggest a 3 to 4 night stay is ideal to get around and see the sights, enjoy the walks, & sample the quality artisan foods and wine. You will find it an ideal stop over on the way to Bay of Islands, a good place to rest for a few days before flying out of Auckland international airport or to rejuvenate on a short break out of the city.
