History

Warkworth Lodge dates back to 1908, housing the town’s first police constable as his home, police station and even the jail! It operated as the police station for many years until being refurbished as a private residence.

In 2004, after hunting for the perfect spot for a boutique motel, it was purchased by Liz and Geoff Bays, and they got right to work on a major refurbishment. That included expanding the building, and they managed to salvage a period-appropriate roof from a home in Albany to maintain the motel’s authentic historical charm.

Warkworth Lodge completed its overhaul and became the town’s premier boutique hotel in December 2006!
