history

Dating back to 1908, Warkworth Lodge originally housed the town’s first police constable as his home, the police station and even the jail! It operated as the police station for many years, until being refurbished as a private residence

In 2004, after hunting for the perfect spot to run a boutique motel, it was purchased by Liz and Geoff Bays; who got straight to work with a major refurbishment. Works included expanding the existing building, whilst still retaining its authentic historical charm and features, including salvaging a period-appropriate replacement roof from a home in Albany

With its extensive overhaul completed, Warkworth Lodge became the town’s premier boutique hotel in December 2006
